I need to prepare now to coordinate for the Roam Book Club. It is an attempt in progress and associations. RBC4 I managed to attend most of the sessions. RBC5 I tried my best to make it every week but it was difficult. It was taxing sitting through sessions that I didn't quite clearly understand especially at 2.30 pm in the night/ morning. Now here today for RBC6, it is on how has my year been and how can I start closing it. I have three questions I need to finish my RoamResearch Fellowship with. What is a roam book club? What have we done till now? and What are its immediate futures? 2019-'21 is a significant phase in Internet history that Roam helped define. Seeing the event through the lens of the book club and note-taking will help contextualize times leading to Web3.0 One of the main appeals of discussing and being part of the Book Club is to develop an understanding of virtual communities and the making tools for thought. Every note-taking app post-roam has three parts, 1. the atomic note, 2. links that connect these notes together, and 3. method to generate intelligence from the notes. The intelligence bit is inadequate for all tools. The obsession now is more on linking notes together rather than analyze them. My move to vs code is an aspiration to solve the analysis problem. Almost everyone in the space has more immediate concerns of note-taking hence even if they say long term they don't know what that long term entails is what I have deduced. It is necessary to learn code and statistics to at least start thinking about how to deal with data influx. From markdown I should progress to HTML, then CSS, then javascript, and finally python. Python recently updated and vs code has a bunch of improvements done on Jupyter notebook as a result. A custom system on vs code and jupyter seems the only path ahead.
